Somewhere Castle is cringing — because Daddy’s little girl isn’t just going to the prom this season. According to Zap2It, Alexis Castle (Molly Quinn) is going to land herself a boyfriend. But who will prove smart enough to interest the always-poised Alexis and witty enough to win a verbal sparring match with Castle? Ken Baumann, star of Secret Life of the American Teenager, will try to be that guy — he’ll take on the role of Ashley, Alexis’s first boy-toy.

Castle won’t be Baumann’s only worry, however: Castle creator Andrew Marlowe is extremely protective of Molly Quinn, so he doesn’t like to see her character dating anyone for too long. “What’s so funny is that with Andrew Marlowe, I’m like his little girl,” Molly said. “So whenever he tries to give me a boyfriend, he’ll come to the set, take one look at them, and the next thing I know they’re written off. I don’t know how long any of them will ever last. [Alexis] will probably become a nun.”

If Baumann doesn’t last, we’ve got some additional boyfriend casting ideas. ABC, take note.

Paul Wesley: Also a young-looking twentysomething, Paul (of Vampire Diaries fame) would be a perfect “old soul” complement to the adult-like Alexis.

Zac Efron: Basically, any excuse to see him… and his abs.

Matt Barr: The sarcastic Hellcats hottie is, well, hot. He and Alexis would make a super-cute couple.

Connor Paolo: Actually age-appropriate and familiar with the lifestyles of New York’s elite, Connor wouldn’t have trouble adapting to the Castle family’s higher-end ways.

Mark Salling: Maybe Alexis has a thing for bad boys?  If so, this Glee stud would rock her world.

Michael Cera or Jesse Eisenberg: If Alexis is into adorably awkward dorks, either of these two gangly brainiacs would light her fire!

Molly C. Quinn is the daughter parents often wish they had–smart, responsible, witty and always full of surprises. As Alexis on the popular TV series Castle, one often can’t tell who’s parenting who as she advises Rick (Nathan Fillion), her novelist father on everything from dating to murder cases. And reacting to fan pressures, Alexis will finally get a serious, steady boyfriend–in 21 year old Ken Baumann–who we’ll see in episode four of the upcoming season, currently slated to air October 11th.

So your character, Alexis is going off to college. Will you miss all the action?

Molly Quinn: Alexis will be going to Oxford. She wants to get out of the U.S. To travel, go to Europe, maybe do a spin-off, do some investigating, like maybe something goes missing. I’ve been plugging the idea with the producers.

Will you be making cameo appearances?

MQ: They plan on keeping me 16 as long as possible. Rick (Nathan Fillion), will still be involved in his daughter’s life, trying to be relevant.  But Alexis will be there to protect him–from himself (laughs). He’s very protective of her, the perfect father figure. He tries to stay back, but at the same time, I’m his little girl. It’s hard for fathers to watch their little princesses grow up.

In one episode, you actually helped your did with a case. Are you going to miss that involvement?

MQ: I think she’ll be even more involved, actually.  She always gives him a little extra help. She wants her dad to feel good and make him feel like he’s solved the case. I always thought they were a great team.

Will Alexis ever have a serious boyfriend on the show?

MQ: As far as that goes, Alexis is continually putting her father in situations that are out of his comfort zone. People keep asking, are you going to have a boyfriend this season?  And I say, have I not had one? It’s funny, they’ll introduce a boyfriend on the show and Rick will give him the treatment and the next thing you know, the boyfriend will be written off the show (laughs). I’ll be getting a serious boyfriend this next season.

Any moments that really stand out while you were working on the set?

MQ: I always wanted to work on a TV set on my 15th birthday. Jonathan Frakes directed an episode on my birthday. They got me a birthday cake and everyone showed up.  We’re like a family. I couldn’t be on a better show.

Will Martha (Susan Sullivan) continue to be involved in your life after Alexis leaves for college?

MQ: Absolutely. I’ve always had a plan that they (Martha and Alexis) will go undercover.  She’s so wonderful, so witty.  Alexis has never done anything to worry Martha.  Alexis is not a rebel. She rebels by being good, getting straight As.

Any hints about what’s coming up in the next season?

MQ: It’s going to be so good. I read the script at least three times.  We’re going to discover so many things about Beckett (Stana Katic). She’s like an onion with so many layers. Alexis will also be more defined in her style. And she’s going to learn to drive.
